Edna Hunt

Feb. 2, 1916 – May 7, 2008

Edna Hunt, 92, of New Castle, died May 7 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.

She was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Salt Lick, Ky., a daughter of Lacy and Grace (Purvis) Sorrell.

Mrs. Hunt was a Lewisville High School graduate. She and her late husband, Stewart, farmed for over 40 years. She was a member of Spiceland Friends Church and Spicy Bees Home Ec. Club. Mrs. Hunt was a volunteer at Henry County Memorial Hospital for 15 years.

Survivors include a son, Fred (wife, Tommie) Hunt of Spiceland; a daughter, Sharon Jones of Muncie; three grandchildren, Wendy (husband, Scott) Miers of Greenfield, Rachel (husband, Eric) Smith of New Castle and Mark (wife, Angie) LaBoyteaux of Muncie; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl Rice of Mt. Sterling, Ky.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart; two brothers, Emette S. and Manuel Sorrell; and a sister, Stella Greene.

Funeral services were May 9 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor David Brock officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was May 9 prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Spiceland Friends Church.
