Amanda Clair Shank

July 4, 1957 – May 8, 2008

Amanda Clair (Kile) Shank, 50, of Indianapolis, formerly of Knightstown, died May 8 at her home.

She was born July 4, 1957, in Madison, a daughter of the late Dan and Betty Jean (Weisner) Kile.

Mrs. Shank was 1975 Brookville High School graduate and was a former member of Brookville United Methodist Church. She attended Knightstown schools while her father served as a Charles A. Beard Memorial School Corporation administrator. Mrs. Shank earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana State University.

Survivors include her husband, David Shank of Indianapolis; her mother, Betty Jean Kile of Brookville; a brother-in-law, Joe (wife, Vicki) Kile of Brookville; two nieces, Cassie Gartenman and Hallie Kile; a nephew, Dan Gartenman; a sister-in-law, Reva Grantham of Versailles, Ky.; and her mother-in-law, Martha Shank of Brookville.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kitty (Kile) Gartenman; a niece, Jessie Kile; and her father-in-law, Paul Shank.

Funeral services were May 12 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home in Brookville with Rev. Christopher Millay officiating. Visitation was May 12 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
