William Rex Sweet

March 5, 1931 – April 9, 2008

William Rex Sweet, 77, of Patricksburg., formerly of Carthage, died April 9 at Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington.

He was born March 5, 1931, in Somerset, Ky., a son of the late Lewis and Marie (Thompson) Sweet.

Mr. Sweet was a retired Carthage police officer. He married Charlotte Padgett on Dec. 8, 1983. Mr. Sweet served with the Rush County Civil Defense for 14 years.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte, of Patricksburg; two sons, Bobby Sweet of Florida and Davie Sweet of Indianapolis; a daughter, Peggy Kay Kline of Anderson; two brothers, Bobby Sweet of Rushville and Danny Chew of Knightstown; a sister, Bonnie Brown of Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son; two sisters; and a brother.

Funeral services were April 14 at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. Ray Thompson officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was April 13 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home in Knightstown.
