Edyth S. Davis

Jan. 28, 1929 – March 24, 2008

Edyth S. Davis, 79, of New Castle, died March 24 at her home.

She was born Jan. 28, 1929, in Albany, Ky., a daughter of the late Odell Owens.

Mrs. Davis was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading the bible and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Davis of Cambridge City; two sons, Merle (wife, Carol) Davis of Centerville and David (wife, Brenda) Davis of Milton; eight grandchildren, Merle Davis Jr., of Centerville, Tonya Davis of Centerville, Dennis Davis II of New Castle, Tina Howard of Richmond, Joseph Davis of New Castle, Natasha (husband, Derek) McNew of Dunreith, Natalie (husband, Rick) Weaver of Carthage and Lyle Davis of Milton; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys (husband, J.T.) Forester of Albany, Ky.; a brother, Earl (wife, Doradean) Owens of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ross E. Davis; a son, Dennis Davis; three sisters; and three brothers.

Funeral services were Mach 28 at Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Robert Fannin officiating. Burial followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Hagerstown. Visitation was March 27 at Main & Davis Funeral Home in New Castle.
