Margaret Frances Leslie

Sept. 6, 1940 – March 20, 2008

Margaret Frances (Jones) Leslie, 67, of New Castle, died March 20 at Community Hospital in Anderson.

She was born Sept. 6, 1940, in Monticello, Ky., a daughter of the late Henry Spencer and Lyda B. (Anderson) Jones.

Mrs. Leslie attended South Side Church of the Nazarene in New Castle. She worked in public service for many years, and also worked at the Courier-Times and Indianapolis Star. She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, reading, computer games and crocheting. An avid Indianapolis Colts fan, she also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her dog, Bow.

Survivors include her husband, James Leslie of New Castle; four daughters, Peggy Humbles of Shelbyville, Cheryl Maloyed of Greencastle, Robin (husband, Richard) Swim of New Castle and Debby Leslie of New Castle; two sons, Timothy Junior (wife, Leslie) Leslie of New Castle and Allen (wife, Tina) Leslie of Goshen; 15 grandchildren, Linny Humbles, Chelle (Humbles) Cox, Timothy Allen Leslie, Kailey Leslie, Reba Leslie, Jamie Maloyed, Angelica Bowman, Ashley Maloyed, James Stanley Leslie, Cody Thor Leslie, Drew Swim, Trace Byers, Lacey Hammonds, Mekayla Hammonds and Austin Hammonds; 10 great-grandchildren, Aaron Humbles, Ayden Humbles, Raistlin Cox, Selina Cox-Humbles, Nigel Humbles, Logan Williams, Jace Phillips, Katelyn Leslie, Cristen Leslie, Terris Maloyed and Madyson Olsen; a sister, Doris Townsend of Laporte, Tex.; a brother, Henry Spencer “Bobby” (wife, Peggy) Jones, Jr., of Kennard; a sister-in-law, Darlene Koon of Rushville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were March 24 at Main & Davis Funeral Home in New Castle with Rev. Michael Dees officiating. Burial followed in Green Hills Memory Garden. Visitation took place prior to funeral services.
