Larry Wayne Jordan, 62, of Amherst, Va., formerly of Carthage, died March 2 at Lynchburg General Hospital in Virginia.
He was born March 17, 1945, in Rushville, a son of the late John Jordan and Iris (DeWitt) Jordan.
Mr. Jordan was raised in Carthage and graduated from Carthage High School in 1964. He was a four-year letterman on the Carthage Raiders basketball team. Mr. Jordan broke the Rush County scoring record with 1,512 points. That record was previously held by Lawrence Parks of Arlington, who had accumulated 1,499 points. In 1972, he moved to Virginia and later graduated from a community college. Mr. Jordan served as an electronics engineer for C.B. Fleet. After retirement, he served as a volunteer animals transporter for Wildlife Rehab Center in Waynesboro, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Annette (DeWilde) Jordan of Lynchburg, Va.; his mother, Iris Jordan; a daughter, Erin “Katy” Palmer of Newport News, Va.; a sister, Marcia Johnson of Scottsville, Va.; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruth and Richard McLoud of Amherst, Va.; a sister-in-law, Erin Adams of Amherst, Va.; a niece, Ashleigh Adams of Amherst; and a nephew, Smith Adams of Amherst; a brother-in-law, Mark (wife, Holly) DeWilde of Ithaca, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachael Lin Cain.
