Earl R. Whisler

March 30, 1921 – March 6, 2008

Earl R. “Shorty” Whisler, 86, of Shirley, died March 6 at his home.

He was born March 30, 1921, in Wilkinson, a son of the late Willis “Shorty” and Bessie (Bennett) Whisler.

Mr. Whisler worked for Gas America for 52 years. He enjoyed mowing his yard, spending time with his family, boating and camping.

Survivors include his wife, Celia (Shelley) Whisler; a daughter, Pam Elliott of Summerfield, Fla.; five grandchildren, Cindy (Whisler) Glisson of Kennard, Brian Wisehart of Kokomo, Tracy (Wisehart) Austin of Shirley, Chad Whisler of Muncie and Bobby Elliott of Summerfield, Fla.; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters; two brothers (one a twin, Earl); two sons, Allen and Wayne; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were March 10 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Jim Jackson officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was March 9 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Indiana.
