Verna Evelyn Coomer

June 9, 1926 – Feb. 15, 2008

Verna Evelyn (Gulley) Coomer, 81, of Wilkinson, died February 15 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

She was born June 9, 1926, in Fitch, Ky., a daughter of the late Everett and Zula (Zornes) Gulley.

Mrs. Coomer worked for several years in the upholstery business with her daughter, Linda. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Anderson.

Survivors include two sons, Allen Coomer and David Coomer, both of Wilkinson; four daughters, Linda (husband, Gene) Cook and Carol (husband, David) Beaver, both of Wilkinson, Gail (husband, Dwight) Kiser of Maxwell and Debbie Kissick of Kennard; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a half-brother, Ray Locker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; a daughter, Wanda Coomer; and a son, Mark Coomer.

Funeral services are at 5 p.m. Saturday, February 23, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Gary Meeker officiating. Visitation is 4 p.m. until time of funeral services on February 23 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
