Elizabeth Claire Hardin

Elizabeth Claire “Liz” (Parker) Hardin, 84, of Indianapolis, died February 6.
She was born Sept. 11, 1923, a daughter of the late Dwight and Hazel Parker.
Mrs. Hardin attended Shortridge High School in Indianapolis for two years, but graduated from Knightstown High School. She attended Earlham College and Butler University. While at Butler, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and met her future husband, James Russell Hardin. The couple was married six months after their blind date. The Hardins’ marriage lasted 64 years. An avid reader, Mrs. Hardin was an accomplished bridge player who also enjoyed crossword puzzles. She was a past regent of the Jonathon Jennings Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her other memberships included Clio Club, Art and Study, Latreian, St. Ursula’s Guild and Propyleum. She and Mr. Hardin attended Trinity Episcopal Church. Known for her hospitality, Mrs. Hardin enjoyed hosting friends and family at her home.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; two sons, Tim (wife, Barbara) Hardin and Tom (wife, Nancy) Hardin; a sister, Jennifer Claire Parker; a brother, Harrison (wife, Susan) Parker; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were February 11 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Indianapolis. Burial followed at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. Visitation was February 10 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Home in Broad Ripple. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church in Indianapolis.
