Berlin C. Gross
July 24, 1930 – Jan. 24, 2008
Berlin C. Gross, 77, of Grant City, died January 24 at his home.
He was born July 24, 1930, in Cow Creek, Ky., a son of the late Clearence and Hattie (Anderson) Gross.
Mr. Gross retired in 1990 from Firestone Tire and Rubber in Noblesville after 38 years of service. He then worked at the New Castle Saw Mill until he retired in 2003. A member of Grant City Wesleyan Church, he taught Sunday school there for over 50 years and served on the church board for many years. Mr. Gross enjoyed hunting and working. He was known as a family man who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Darline Gross of Grant City; eight children, Larry (wife, Sandra) Gross of Grant City, Donnie (wife, Patty) Gross of Grant City, Lenville (wife, Leanna) Gross of rural Shirley, Lavonne Schuyler of Grant City, Ronnie (wife, Nancy) Gross of Knightstown, Kathy Gross of Grant City, Roger (wife, Janet) Gross of Grant City and Shelia Wagner of Grant City; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald (wife, Bonnie) Gross of New Castle, Lonnie (wife, Sandra) Reger of La Porte; two sisters, Louise Smith of Knightstown and Connie (husband, Steve) Schuyler of Maxwell; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepdad, Gilbert Reger; two brothers, Jerry Reger and Raymond Gross; a sister, Marsha Joan Reger; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were January 28 at Grant City Wesleyan Church with Rev. James Ricker officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was January 27 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown and one hour prior to funeral services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Grant City Wesleyan Church.
