Gary D. Smith

Jan. 14, 1959 – Jan. 23, 2008

Gary D. Smith, 49, of Lewisville, died January 23 at his home.

He was born Jan. 14, 1959, in New Castle, a son of the late Osby and Nora (Guffey) Smith.

Mr. Smith lived in Carthage for several years before moving to Lewisville. He worked at Detroit Steel in Morristown for over 20 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing and watching Indiana University basketball.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa (Hardwick) Smith; three children, Carrie Hardwick of Knightstown, Gary Smith, Jr., and Dusty Smith, both of Lewisville; four grandchildren, Taylor and Haley Hardeman, Morgan Smith and Jade Beavers; two sisters, Brenda (husband, James) Price of New Castle and Lisa (husband, Eddie) Smith of Lewisville; and two brothers, Jim (wife, Jill) Smith and Tracy (wife, Becky) Smith, both of Lewisville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two nephews, Justin Price and Klayton Smith.

Funeral services were January 28 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville. Burial followed in Lewisville Cemetery. Visitation was January 28 at the funeral home.
