Joe Fred White

Sept. 9, 1932 – Dec. 20, 2007

Joe Fred White, 75, died December 20 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.

He was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Albany, Ky., a son of the Roscoe and Sophia (Sheffield) White.

Mr. White was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church and Greensboro Masonic Lodge #175. He retired from Dana Corporation after 30 years of service. A lifelong farmer, he enjoyed landscaping, gardening, mowing and working in the yard. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed gospel music and singing regularly.

Survivors include five children, Steve (wife, Amy) White of New Castle, Sheila (husband, Rick) Holder of New Castle, Rhonda (husband, Steve) Dugger of Middletown, Roger White of Lafayette and Sherri (husband, Scott) Keen of Marion; a former wife, Frances White of New Castle; grandchildren, Ricky “Boog” Holder of Mooreland, Rachel (husband, Chris) Walls of Greensboro, Josh Dugger of Mooreland, Amber (husband, Chad) Planck of Marion, Jacob White of Mt. Summit, Whitnie White of New Lisbon, Marci White of New Castle, Seth and Caleb Dugger of Middletown; great-grandchildren, Madison, Jack, Dharma and Grace Holder and Reagan and Reece Hall, all of Greensboro; a brother, Howard (wife, Susan) White of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Glencoe and Earl White; and two sisters, Dean Lawson and Betty Huffman.

Funeral services were December 24 at Grand Avenue Baptist Church in New Castle with Revs. Charles Dugger and Gene Bennett officiating. Burial followed in Green Hills Memory Gardens in New Castle. Masonic services were December 23. Visitation was December 23 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
