Fred W. Murray

Fred W. Murray, 91, of Knightstown, died December 30 at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle.
He was born May 2, 1916, in Hayesville, N.C., a son of the late Edd and Belle (Waldroup) Murray.
Mr. Murray retired from Delco Remy in Anderson after 38 years of service. He was also a retired farmer. A Hayesville (N.C.) High School graduate, he also attended Young Harris College, in Young Harris, Ga., for two years. He was a 50-year member of Knightstown Masonic Lodge #16, Shirley Order of the Eastern Star #492 and the Commandry and York Rite. Mr. Murray was also a member of Knightstown United Methodist Church for over 60 years. An avid, life-long coon hunter and sportsman, he was also a member of the Wilkinson Brotherhood and Sisterhood. He enjoyed spending time with his family, horses, dogs and kids. He also enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Murray of Knightstown; three daughters, Dee Anne (husband, Richard) Wilkinson of Anderson, Marka (husband, Larry) Eckhardt of Darlington, S.C., and Freda (husband, Daniel) Dudley of Wilkinson; eight grandchildren, David Wilkinson, Gretchen (husband, Kelly) Cunningham, Elisa (husband, Tony) Baker, Lara (husband, Shane) Mathis, Rhett (wife, Jen) Eckhardt, Kyle (wife, Laura) Dudley, Andrew (wife, Mandy) Dudley and Kelly Dudley; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray (wife, Carol) Murray of North Carolina; five stepchildren, Marsha (husband, Gail) Barnard of New Castle, Nancy (husband, Phil) Harrold of Noblesville, Peggy Muncy of New Castle, Duane (wife, Belinda) Kissick of Greensboro and Mary (husband, Tony) Cox of Osgood; 24 stepgrandchildren; and 19 stepgreat-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Faye Murray; two brothers, Mark and Carl Murray; and a sister, Lois Berry.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 3, at Knightstown United Methodist Church with Rev. Janice Heseman officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Masonic and Eastern Star services will take place at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knightstown United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
