John A. Jackson

May 3, 1937 – Dec. 19, 2006

John A. Jackson, 69, of Carthage, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, at his home.

He was born May 3, 1937, in Carthage, a son of the late Victor A. and Dona L. (Wells) Jackson-Gulley.

Mr. Jackson was U.S. Navy veteran, having served from 1955-59. He married his wife, Judy, on Dec. 27, 1957. Mr. Jackson retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 1997 after 28.5 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to auctions.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; a daughter, Cheryl A. (husband, Bob) Sullivan of Arlington; a son, Jeffrey A. (wife, Darla) Jackson of Knightstown; six grandchildren, Holly (husband, Brian) Wisehart of Kokomo, Cody Sullivan of Arlington, Brandon Sullivan of Arlington, Jon Jackson of Knightstown, Christina Jackson of Knightstown and Samantha Whitfield of Rushville; two stepgrandchildren, Tisha Sullivan of Shelbyville and Brooke Linville of New Castle; six great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Jackson of Carthage; an aunt, Laura Wells of Knightstown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; a brother; and two grandchildren, Kirstin Linville and Rylee Wisehart.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 22, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel, with Rev. David Bonne officiating. Burial will follow in Carthage Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, December 21, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
