Ethel Maxine Carlton

Jan. 23, 1937 – Dec. 17, 2006

Ethel Maxine Carlton, 69, of Rushville, died December 17 in Glenwood.

She was born Jan. 23, 1937, in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Earl and Frances (Swango) Hadler.

Mrs. Carlton was active in home economics and card clubs. She and her husband, Donald, owned and operated Carlton’s Recreation. She was a Connersville High School graduate. On Dec. 20, 1954, she married Donald Carlton.

Survivors include her husband of Rushville; a son, Edward (wife, Debbie Jo) Carlton of Rushville; three daughters, Linda Bridgeman of New Palestine, Peggy (husband, Gary) Davis of Rushville and Tina (husband, Robert) Williamson of Rushville; two brothers, Donald Hadler of Connersville and Robert (wife, Ethel) Hadler of Knightstown; a sister, Carol (husband, Bill) Ott of Centerville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Ann.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 21, at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Mick Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Visitation is Wednesday, December 20, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or Brian’s Cause.
