Margaret L. Smalley

Margaret L. (Dyer) Smalley, 64, of Knightstown, died November 16 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
She was born Oct. 14, 1942, a daughter of the late Wiley and Icy (Stone) Dyer.
Mrs. Smalley lived most of her life in Knightstown and Carthage. She was a member of a Baptist church in Rushville. In addition to raising six daughters, Mrs. Smalley in assisted, via her babysitting business, in raising many other children in the Carthage area. She enjoyed cooking, gospel music, singing with her sisters, collecting angels and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include six daughters, Teresa L. Smith of Knightstown, Lisa Kay (husband, Brian) Sullivan of Arlington, Patricia Ann Marrs of Knightstown, Billie Jo (husband, Greg) Schombert of Knightstown, Trina L. Smalley of Knightstown and Tawaina J. Smalley of Knightstown; seven grandchildren, Kendra L. Marrs, Sarah Jo and Luke Schombert, Marissa Kay Sullivan, Mary Margaret “Maggie” Smith, and Brodi and Brooklyn Bertram; three sisters, Martha Shory of Carthage, Martie (husband, Bobby) Richmond of Carthage and Rosemary (husband, Chuck) Kirby of Carthage; a brother, Rev. William (wife, Elveeta) Dyer of Woodville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, William A. Smalley in June 2006; two daughters, Carla Sue and Debra L. Smalley; a sister, Mollie Caudy; a brother, Charles Wade Dyer; and a son-in-law, Brook A. Smith.
Funeral services were November 21 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel, with Rev. Gene Bennett officiating. Burial followed in Carthage Cemetery. Visitation was November 20 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
