Dale Howe

June 29, 1933 – Nov. 6, 2006

Dale Howe, 73, of Pendleton, died on November 6 at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson.

He was born June 29, 1933, in Shirley, a son of the late Woodrow and Margaret (Palmer) Howe.

Mr. Howe was a Korean War veteran who served in Germany with the U.S. Army. He retired in 1987 from Delco Remy in Anderson after 37 years of service. Mr. Howe was a member of Shirley Christian Church, Shirley Masonic Lodge #531 and Shirley Eastern Star #492. He was also a member of the Wilkinson Brotherhood and Sisterhood. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, vintage cars and spending time with his two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Beth Ann Howe of Pendleton; three grandchildren, Krishanda Kirchner of Lebanon, Krystal Kirchner and Daniel Kirchner, both of Pendleton; two great-grandchildren, Aubri Hamilton of Lebanon and Aydin Kirchner of Pendleton; a brother, Robert E. Howe of Shirley; a sister, Eva M. Reeves of Shirley; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Frances (Ebbert) Howe, on March 24.

Funeral services were November 10 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Darrell Deck officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Miltiary graveside rites were performed by Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Visitation was November 9 at the funeral home. A Masonic service, conducted by Lodge #531, took place then as well. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006.
