James S. Linville

Jan. 23, 1942 – Nov. 1, 2006

James S. Linville, 64, of New Castle, died November 1 at Henry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 23, 1942, in Rushville, a son of the late Harold and Shelby (Newkirk) Linville.

Mr. Linville was a 1960 Spiceland High School graduate. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1999 after 30 years of service. Recently, he worked part-time at Speedway on Memorial Drive in New Castle. A 25-year member of the New Castle Eagles Lodge, Mr. Linville also coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball for many years. He also coached Optimist basketball. An avid golfer, he was a fan of Indiana University basketball and the Indianapolis Colts. Mr. Linville also enjoyed watching western movies.

Survivors include his wife, Becky (Vest) Linville, whom he married Feb. 3, 1979; two sons, Tim (fiance, Andrea Boggs) Linville and Stephen Scott Linville, both of New Castle; two stepdaughters, Terri (fiance, Bob Gibson) Greenwalt of Losantville and Beth (husband, Jim) Clark of Westfield; a stepson, John (wife, Mary) Greenwalt of Carthage; two sisters, Joe Ellen (husband, Leonard) Pitts of Dunreith and Jean (husband, Bill) Conn of Kentucky; a brother, Jack Linville of New Castle; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Dennis Greenwalt.

Funeral services were November 4 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Charles Dugger officiating. Burial followed in South Mound Cemetery in New Castle. Visitation was November 3 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Heart Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
