Margene Ellis

April 17, 1950 – Oct. 12, 2006

Margene Ellis, 56, of Greenfield, formerly of Knightstown, died October 12 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born April 17, 1950, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Donald and Dorothy (Sharp) Hopkins, Sr.

A 1968 Knightstown High School graduate, Mrs. Ellis was a self-employed beautician. On Dec. 26, 1982, she married Cary L. Ellis and he preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 2002. She was a member of Knightstown Friends Church, Knightstown American Legion Post 152 Auxiliary, Rushville Elks #1307, and the New Castle Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include two sons, Cary B. (wife, Jessica) Ellis of Knightstown and Shawn (wife, Dorothy) Garrison of Oksaloosa, Iowa; a daughter, Dawnuell Ellis of Knightstown; a brother, Donald M. (wife, Linda) Hopkins of Hilton Head, S.C.; a sister, Jayan (husband, Tom) Drake of Las Vegas, Nev.; and six grandchildren, Amina, Avery, Sam, Madison, Brady and McKynna.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cary L. Ellis.

Funeral services were October 16 at Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel, in Knightstown with Mervin Kilmer officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was October 15 at the funeral home.
