Lowell T. Collins

June 7, 1918 – Aug. 19, 2006

Lowell T. Collins, 88, of rural Wilkinson died August 19 at Regency Place Healthcare Center in Greenfield.

He was born June 7, 1918, in Hancock County, a son of the late Lucian and Crystal (Thomas) Collins.

Mr. Collins was a retired farmer who served as supervisor for Hancock County Soil and Water Conservation District. He was a member of the Hancock County Council, Hancock County Farm Bureau Board, Hancock County Farm Bureau Co-op Board, Republican precinct committeeman, Indiana State Farm Bureau Board, Hancock Rural Telephone Board, Willow Branch United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite and a 50-year member of the Eden Lodge.

Survivors include a son, Tom (wife, Judy) Collins of Wilkinson; a daughter, Susan (husband, Jim) Cherry of Greenfield; six grandchildren, John and Aaron Collins, both of Wilkinson, Chris Cherry of New Palestine, Jeff Cherry of Greenfield, Christina Daffron of Greenfield, and Tracy Whitaker of Greenfield; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Collins, in 2003; and three sisters, Frances Osthoff, Virginia Amerson and Julia Baldwin.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at Willow Branch United Methodist Church with Pastor Cameron Maniford officiating. Burial followed in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Memorial contributions may be made to Willow Branch United Methodist Church.
