Harriet J. Wilson

Jan. 13, 1922 – Aug. 12, 2006

Harriet J. Wilson, 84, of Greenfield, died August 12 at her home.

She was born Jan. 12, 1922, in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Ernest and Minnie (Button) Pierce.

Mrs. Wilson served as a message decoder in the U.S. Navy during World War II in Washington, D.C. She retired from Hancock Memorial Hospital as a billing and insurance manager. She was a member of Park Chapel Christian Church and Shirley Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, Wesley R. Wilson of Greenfield; two daughters, Jennette (husband, Dennis) York of Greenfield and Julie (husband, Chuck) Butler of Knightstown; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Wilson; four sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services were August 12 at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson with Rev. David Woods officiating. Visitation was August 12 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hancock County Senior Services.
