Ellsworth “Elic” Sylvester

April 15, 1915 – Aug. 11, 2006

Ellsworth “Elic” Sylvester, 91, of Knightstown, died Friday, Aug. 11, at Hancock Regional Hospital.

He was born April 15, 1915, in Bruceville, a son of the late David and Jamima (Craft) Sylvester.

Mr. Sylvester retired from Chrysler in 1974 after 37 years of service. He was a 1934 Wilkinson High School graduate. Mr. Sylvester was a member of Golden Rule Lodge #16, Scottish Rite and Shrine, Knightstown American Legion Post 152 Sons of the American Legion, and Bethel Presbyterian Church. He had been a resident at Brandywine Nursing Home for the past year.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Ruth (Overman) Sylvester of Knightstown; a son, Don (wife, Barbara) Sylvester of Indianapolis; a daughter, Betty (husband, Hugh) Grandison of Knightstown; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 10:30 a.m. at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was August 14 at the funeral home. Masonic services were conducted by Golden Rule Lodge #16. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9135 N. Meridian St., Suite B-4, Indianapolis, IN 46209-7109.
