Wanda K. Shelley

April 22, 1938 – June 26, 2006

Wanda K. “Nanie” Shelley, 68, of Rushville, died June 26 at Flatrock River Lodge in Rushville.

She was born April 22, 1938, in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Harry and Lerel (Macy) Remy.

Mrs. Shelley lived most of her life in Rush County. She was employed at Miller’s Merry Manor, but was better known as a caregiver for children. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Rushville. She married Bobby D. Shelley on Nov. 9, 1980, and he survives.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Joe (wife, Traci) Atkins of Mays and David Shelley of Connersville; a daughter, Mellody (husband, Paul) Wiley of Rushville; five brothers, Larry Remy of Tennessee; Danny, Doyal, Harry and Denzil Remy, all of Rushville; four sisters, Christiena (husband, Lawrence) Lore of Connersville, Diane (husband, Glen) Hooten of Rushville, Derrith (husband, Ronnie) Nigh of Rushville and Kim (husband, Jerry) Clouse of Rushville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, at Main Street Christian Church in Rushville with Rev. Carol Wiley offficiating. Cremation followed at Eastern Indiana Crematory in Lewisville. Visitation was Wednesday, June 28, at Main Street Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Rush Memorial Hospital Health Services. Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville handled arrangements.
