Lettie Irene May

Aug. 1, 1923 – June 7, 2006

Lettie Irene May, 82, of Knightstown, died Wednesday, June 7, at Morristown Manor Nursing Home in Morristown.

She was born Aug. 1, 1923, in Hancock County, a daughter of the late Clarence and Maude (Brumfield) Jackson.

Mrs. May was a beautician and operated her own shop until her retirement. She married Dale May on July 12, 1957, and he survives. She was a member of East Street Christian Church in Carthage, as well as Order of the Eastern Star, Knightstown American Legion Post 152 Auxiliary and C.W.F. of East Street Christian Church. A Westland High School Graduate, Mrs. May enjoyed quilting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Jerry B. (wife, Ruth) May of Carthage, Jeffery L. (wife, Judy) May of Georgetown, Ky., Robert D. May of Edinburg and Steven C. (Kathy) May of Raysville; a daughter, Loretta (husband, John) Dyke of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death three brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were Monday, June 12, at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Sunday, June 11, at the funeral home.
