Gilbert C. Tague, Jr.
Aug. 1, 1921 – May 17, 2006
Gilbert C. “Jack” Tague, Jr., 84, of Knightstown, died Wednesday, May 17, in his home.
He was born Aug. 1, 1921, a son of the late Gilbert C. Tague, Sr., and Mayme (Raham) Tague.
Mr. Tague served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He had owned and operated Jack’s Standard Station in Knightstown for 28 years. He was an active member of Golden Rule Masonic Lodge #16 in Knightstown where he was a past commander. He was also a member of Knightstown American Legion Post 152 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Over the years, Mr. Tague was active in the Kiwanis Club, Knightstown Chamber of Commerce, Knightstown Planning Commission and many other local organizations, including the Knightstown Elementary School PTO and Knightstown Little League. He was also an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Wilma (Bird) Tague of Knightstown; two daughters, Teresa Joan “Teddy” (husband, John) Jamison of Elkhart an Beth Anne Gallien of Knightstown; a son, G.C. “Jacky” Tague III (special friend, Terri Lynn Gorman) of Knightstown; four grandchildren, Brian and Jill Jamison, Chad Gallien and Courtney Tague; a sister, Doris Ogden of Rushville; and a brother, Max Tague of Rushville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lillian Hawkins, Edna Simpson and Ida Davison; and a brother, Neil Tague.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 20, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown where American Legion Post 152 conducted military graveside rites. Visitation and Masonic services were Friday, May 19, at the funeral home.
