Janet S. Austin

May 31, 1942 – April 16, 2006

Janet S. Austin, 63, of Shirley, died Sunday, April 16, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

She was born May 31, 1942, in Anderson, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Esther (Hedrick) Dowden.

Mrs. Austin was a lifelong homemaker and mother who enjoyed spending time with her family, camping and traveling.

Survivors include her husband of 13 years, Earl Austin of Shirley; four daughters, Carrie Crawford of Indianapolis, Holly Rose of Fortville, Robin Denger of Indianapolis and Amy (husband, David) Noel of Wilkinson; two sons, Tracy (wife, Linda) Denger of Markleville and Chad Denger of Shirley; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Sam Dowden of Ingalls and Ray Dowden of Anderson; three sisters, Burna Lou Young of Pendleton, Beverly Galloway of Greenfield and Phyllis Cruse of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Art Dowden.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial will follow at Menton Cemetery. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, at the funeral home.
