Delores J. Wilkerson

Oct. 28, 1934 – March 18, 2006

Delores J. Wilkerson, 71, of Knightstown, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 18, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

She was born Oct. 28, 1934, a daughter of the late Russell and Beulah (Pitts) VanDuyn.

Mrs. Wilkerson was a former Cub Scout leader and a former member of Knightstown Christian Church. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Wilkerson was also an avid fan of college basketball, especially Indiana University.

Survivors include her husband, Chalmer Wilkerson of Knightstown; two sons, Steve (wife, Betsy) Wilkerson and Jeff (wife, Debbie) Wilkerson, both of Knightstown; five grandchildren, Heather, Abby, Emmie, Ashlee and Jace Wilkerson, all of Knightstown; two brothers, Bill VanDuyn of Anderson and Tom Hexamer of Greenwood; one sister, Sue Smith of New Salem; a brother-in-law, Chalen Wilkerson of Shirley; a sister-in-law, Kay Wilkerson of New Trenton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Pauline VanDuyn, and a brother, Gerald VanDuyn.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel, with Rev. Richard Thayer officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at the funeral home.
