Cleta Belle Arbogast Bernot

Jan. 11, 1909 – Feb.14, 2006

Cleta Bella Arbogast Bernot, 97, a former Losantville resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Willow Crossing Health Care Center in Columbus.

She was born Jan. 11, 1909 in Randolph County, the daughter of the late Clinton and Matilda Arbogast.

Mrs. Bernot was a Losantville High School graduate who later graduated from the Chicago Training School of Business and Clerical Studies. She lived most of her life in Chicago where she worked in the offices of Swift and Company for 40 years. Mrs. Bernot was a faithful volunteer at Columbus Hospital in Chicago and was a lifelong member of United Methodist churches in Losantville and Chicago.

Survivors include two nieces, Mary F. (husband, John) Pelton of Franklin and Ruth Panghorn of Michigan City; a nephew, William (wife, Amy) Panghorn of Losantville; great nieces and nephews, Joan Lietz of Indianapolis, Daniel Eudaly of Indianapolis, John Jeffery (wife, Donna) Panghorn and Tracy Moffitt, both of Michigan City, Greg William (wife, Sherrie) Panghorn of Lynn, Gwen (husband, Jeff) Glotfelty of McCordsville and Melanie (husband, Dean) Cardamore of Carmel; and several great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Mae Panghorn, and two nephews, Frank and John Panghorn.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Riverside Cemetery near Losantville. There was no visitation. Main & Davis Astor Main Blue River Funeral Home handled arrangements.
