J.C. “Bud” Deck

June 2, 1948 – Feb. 9, 2006

J.C. “Bud” Deck, 57, of New Castle died Thursday, Feb. 9, at St. Vincent Heart Institute in Indianapolis.

He was born June 2, 1948, in Alpine, Tenn., a son of Ruby (Cantell) Deck and the late Cooper Deck.

Mr. Deck was employed at Big B Landfill in New Castle for the past 30 years. He was affiliated with Calvary Baptist Church in New Castle and he enjoyed woodworking. He also collected NASCAR items and enjoyed racing. Mr. Deck was a coon hunter who also enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his mother, Ruby Deck of Tennessee; his wife of 36 years, Dottie (Turner) Deck; three sons, Brad (wife, Theresa) Deck of New Castle, Scott (wife, Donna) Deck of Modoc, and Bryan Deck of Castle; six grandchildren, Candice, Calib, Katelyn, Bryan, Korey and Kaylee Deck; four sisters, Wanda (husband, Allen) Salvage, Carol (husband, Gerald) Copeland, Reba (husband, David) Hammock and Judy (husband, Jimmy) Carter, all of Tennessee; a brother, Roger (wife, Reta) Deck, also of Tennessee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at Main & Davis Funeral Home, Broad Street Chapel, with Pastor Bobby Slagle officiating. Burial followed in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition, in New Castle. Visitation was 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Monday.
