Earl Hooker

Jan. 15, 1936 – Feb. 13, 2006

Earl Hooker, 70, of Knightstown, died Monday, Feb. 13, at the Heart Center of Indiana in Indianapolis.

He was born Jan. 15, 1936 in Manchester, Ky., a son of the late Walton and Mayme (Henson) Hooker.

Mr. Hooker retired from Ford Motor Company in 1988 after 30 years of service. He was a lifelong farmer in Henry County and he attended Greenfield Church of God. Mr. Hooker was a member of the Shirley Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine. An avid bluegrass fan, he was active in several area bluegrass clubs. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Joyce (Lipps) Hooker; three sons, Douglas Hooker and Wesley (wife, Debbie) Hooker, both of Knightstown and Russell (wife, Teri) Hooker of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Jonathon (wife, Jessi) Hooker, Stephanie, Lyndsey, Daniel, Robyn and Lauren Hooker; three great-grandchildren, Max, Addison and Gavin; three brothers, Amoel of Grayhawk, Ky., Carlo of Knightstown and Wallace of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three sisters, Betty Root of Winchester, Ohio, Darlene Oliver of Germantown, Md., and Charlotte Smith of Manchester, Ky.; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Randy, Linda and Terry; two brothers, Stafford and Cecil Hooker; and a sister, Alma Robinson.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel, with Pastor James Hibbard officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital with envelopes available at the funeral home, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
