Robert Eugene Lane
May 9, 1937 – Jan. 29, 2006
Robert Eugene “Bobby” Lane, 68, of Lewisville died Sunday, Jan. 29, at his home.
He was born in Indiana on May 9, 1937, a son of the late Paul and Doris Eaton Lane.
Mr. Lane lived his entire life in Lewisville and Spiceland areas. He graduated from Lewisville High School in 1957 and attended Ivy Tech at Muncie for two years. He retired in 1994 from the maintenance department at Avesta in New Castle after 31 years of service. Mr. Lane enjoyed woodworking, plowing gardens, fishing, Mopar and Dodge cars and spending time with his family. He was an citizen in Lewisville and volunteerd many hours toward the town’s daily operations since 1994. He was a member of the Spiceland Volunteer Fire Department and the Lions Club. He married Sandy Deaton on Aug. 10, 1993, in Sevierville, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Becky (husband, Brett) Eversole of Spiceland, Sharron (friend, Chad) Leeka of Spiceland, and Janine Lane at home; a son, Jeremiah “Bub” Lane at home; three stepchildren, Joe, Jaime and Jonathon Montgomery of Rushville; five grandchildren, Tyler and Ryan Leeka, Bryce Thomas, Destiney and Dolan Montgomery; a brother, Dan (wife, Connie) Lane of Connersville; three aunts, Dorothy Lane Leeson of Dublin, Zola Eaton and ReaEtta Burke; three uncles, Max and Phil Eaton and Max Leach; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville with Rev. Marion Hickman and Allen Southerland officiating. Burial followed in Van Pelt Cemetery in Waldron. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the local cancer society or heart foundation.
