Loretta K. Penn

July 14, 1965 – Jan. 13, 2006

Loretta K. Penn, 40, of New Castle, died Friday, Jan. 13, at her home.

She was born July 14, 1965 in Rushville, a daughter of the Kenneth and Virginia “Sally” (Aker) Smith of Knightstown.

Mrs. Penn attended Greenfield Christian School and Carthage schools. She received her GED from New Castle Chrysler High School. Mrs. Penn worked as a waitress in several restaurants in Florida and New Castle.

Survivors include a daughter, Danielle Lynn Spuehler of New Castle; a son, John Dalton Spuehler III, of New Castle; her mother; a grandmother, Lois Smith of Shelbyville; a brother, Jack (wife, Penny) Grizzell of Carthage; three sisters, Debbie (husband, Jack) Catron of New Castle, Tammy (husband, Danny) Chew of Knightstown, and Cindy Hamilton of Knightstown; a brother-in-law, David Langley of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; a grandfather, Fred Smith; a sister, Judy Ann Langley; and a brother-in-law, Nate Hamilton, Jr.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, at Marcum Community Funeral Home with Revs. Dillard Cole and Randall Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Asbury Cemetery in Morristown. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the funeral home.
