Earl Nolen

July 27, 1926 – Jan. 13, 2006

Earl Nolen, 80, of Cambridge City, died Friday, Jan. 13, at his home. He was a former Knightstown resident, who moved to Cambridge City in 1970.

He was born July 27, 1926, in Olive Hill, Ky., the son of the late William Isaac and Lucy (Stevens) Nolen.

Mr. Nolen worked at Ford Motor Company and Visteon in Connersville, where he served as a supervisor. He was U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post #169 in Cambridge City.

Survivors include four children, Brenda Thompson of Cambridge City, Sue Shepherd of Greenfield, Chad Nolen, Sr., of Sidney, Ohio, and Sherri Wolford of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Ada Jones of Knightstown; four half-sisters, Kathleen, Reithl, Bernice and Floris; one half-brother, Carl; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Laura Nolen; a stepson, Stephen Earl Nolen; and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City with Randy Gross officiating. Burial will take place in Nolen Cemetery in Olive Hill, Ky. Visitation was 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City.
