Robert W. Wisehart

April 24, 1930 – Dec. 22, 2005

Robert W. “Bob” Wisehart, 75, of Shirley, died Thursday, Dec. 22, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

He was born April 24, 1930, in Shirley, a son of the late Alonzo and Mellie (McCray) Wisehart.

Mr. Wisehart served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he received the Purple Heart. He retired from the Chrysler Corporation in New Castle in 1980. He was a member and Deacon of Shirley Christian Church, where he was very involved with church facilities. Mr. Wisehart was a founding member of the Jane Ross Reeves Octagon House Foundation in Shirley. He enjoyed collecting model vehicles and owned a classic 1948 Chrysler New Yorker, which he entered in car shows.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Eloise (Bricker) Wisehart, of Shirley; two daughters, Terri (husband, Allen) Collier of Knightstown, and Karen (husband, Mark) Harrison of Wilkinson; three granddaughters, Amanda Collier, Andrea Kinder, and Kara Hufferd; two sisters, Betty Miller and Linda Cole; three brothers, Richard Wisehart, Barney Wisehart and Gerald Wisehart; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Wisehart.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor James Hill and Rev. Allen Collier officiating. Burial followed in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 26, at the funeral home.
