Elmer McMichael, Jr.

June 24, 1925 – Dec. 20, 2005

Elmer McMichael, Jr., 80, of Rushville, died Dec. 20 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rushville.

He was born June 24, 1925, in Rush County, the son of the late Elmer McMichael, Sr., and Julia (Gahimer) McMichael.

Mr. McMichael married Martha N. Small on Aug. 24, 1949. He lived most of his life in Rush County. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1943. Mr. McMichael was a farmer and also worked in the foundry at the Dana Corporation. He retired from there after 15 years of service. After retirement, he drilled gas wells with Walter McMichael for many years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Max Allen McMichael of Suffolk, Va.; a daughter, Melissa Jane (husband, Donald) Wall of Arlington; three grandchildren; one great granddaughter.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville with Revs. Doug Wall and Wesley Jones officiating. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home. Burial followed funeral services in Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinsons Association or the Rush County Cancer Society via the Rush County Community Foundation.
