 PUBLISHED DECEMBER 31, 2003

Donald McIntosh

Mar. 2, 1923 – Dec. 25, 2003

Donald Franklin McIntosh, 80, of New Castle died Thursday, December 25 at Henry County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was born March 2, 1923 in Estell County, Ky., a son of the late Joseph and Kistara McIntosh.

Mr. McIntosh retired from Allison’s after 30 years of service. He owned and operated his own heating and air cooling business and was assisted by his grandson, Ronald Jr. until 1999. He was a member of Crossroad Church of God in New Castle. He lived most of his life in Knightstown and loved to hunt, fish and trap. An avid woodworker, he made cabinets, cedar chests and baby beds for many family members. A great storyteller, he also knew the Bible from front to back.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jeanette F. McIntosh of New Castle; three sons, Ronald Gene (wife Cheryl) McIntosh of Sulphur Springs, Joseph Elva (wife Lynette) McIntosh of Knightstown, and Jackie (wife Carol) McIntosh of Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Ronald McIntosh, Jr. of New Castle, Jennifer (husband Scott) Halcomb of Spiceland, Jordan McIntosh of Knightstown, Angela McIntosh of New Castle, Aaron McIntosh of New Castle, Mandy (husband Dave) Gray of Knightstown, Jeremiah (wife Aracely) Gregory of Brownsville, Texas and Jessica (husband Jeremy) Lee of Indianapolis; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Paige, Gracie, Isaac, Tyler, Madison and Devin; and an aunt, Nancy Spicer of Florence, Wisc.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great-grandchild; six brothers, Elmer, Ora Dale, Ray, Henry, Richard and Glenn McIntosh; and three sisters, Bonnie, Velma Marie and Mary.

Services were held Monday, December 29 at Crossroad Church of God with Rev. Danny Douglas and Rev. Brian Campbell officiating. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.

Visitation was held Sunday, December 28 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Crossroad Church of God building fund with envelopes available at the funeral home.
