Mary E. Walters

Mar. 2, 1912 – Oct. 29, 2003

Mary E. Walters, 81, a former resident of the Shirley and Greenfield Community, died Wednesday, October 29 at Regency Place Healthcare Center in Greenfield. She was born March 2, 1912 in Hancock County, a daughter of the late William and Ethel (Johns) Ware.

Mrs. Walters retired in 1978 from Ranch Supermarket in Greenfield and was a member of the Wilkinson Brotherhood and Sister. She lived all her life in Shirley and Greenfield. She will be remembered by her friends from working at Reasner Drugstore and Ranch Supermarket.

Survivors include her husband, Don Walters of Greenfield; one son, Richard Ware of Wilkinson; two daughters, Alberta Calland of Greenfield and Carolyn Grass of Shirley; six grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lena Swan of Marion and Alice Smith of Anderson; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Merle, Lore, Billy, Carol and two infants; and three sisters, Marie Felix, Mae Goodwin and Martha Cramer.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 3 at the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Rev. Jim Jackson officiating. Burial was in McCray Cemetery.

Visitation was held at the funeral home Sunday, November 2.
