Doris Ann Wallace

Sept. 25, 1939 – Nov. 1, 2003

Doris Ann Wallace, 64, of Spiceland, died Saturday, November 1 in Henry County Memorial Hospital following a 22-year battle with multiple sclerosis. She was born September 25, 1939 in Henry County, a daughter of the late George H. and Lydia (Pemberton) Lee.

A lifetime resident of Henry County, she lived in Greensboro and Spiceland most of her life. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Kennard High School in 1957. She worked briefly at Doug’s Restaurant in New Castle. Her most prized activities were spending time with her grandchildren, playing the piano and she was an avid reader. She had attended the Greensboro Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kedric Wallace of Spiceland; four children, Jennifer (husband John) McCord of Mt. Summit, Michael (wife Suzanne) Wallace of New Castle, Lauren Jane Wallace of Spiceland, and Mark (wife Melissa) Wallace of New Castle; grandchildren, Courtney Wallace, Amanda McCord, Cooper Wallace, Bradley McCord, Brian McCord, Molly McCord, Madeline Wallace, Benjamin Wallace and Jack Wallace; three sisters, Betty Stonerock, Coleen (husband Arnold) Turpin and Nelle Wallace, all of Greensboro; a brother, Hugh (wife Carol) Lee of Middletown; and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Woodward of Straughn and Annis Wallace of Greensboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law; a sister, Bertie Lou Lee; and six brothers-in-law, Carol Stonerock, Donald Wallace, Phillip Wallace, Ray Wallace, Sammie Wallace and Max Woodward.

Services will be held at 10:30 today (Wednesday, November 5) at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Glenn Hughes and David Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland.

Visitation was held at the funeral home Tuesday, November 4. Memorial contributions may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
