James C. Ratliff

Nov. 8, 1927 – Sept. 28, 2003

James C. Ratliff, 75, a resident of Shirley, died at his residence Sunday, September 28. He was born November 8, 1927 in Knightstown, the son of the late Harold and Harriett (Taylor) Ratliff.

Mr. Ratliff owned and operated Ratliff Jewelry Store in Knightstown where he was a certified master watch and jewelry maker. He was vice-president of Shirley-Knightstown-Carthage Railroad. He was a member of the Knightstown Masonic Lodge #16, the Eastern Star of Shirley #492, Knightstown Friends Church and the Odd Fellows. The graduate of Knightstown High School and Earlham College was a Korean War veteran serving in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Delores (Mitchener) Ratliff of Shirley and a stepdaughter, Sandra (husband Jack) Rowe of Chesterfield.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 30 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Chris Sitler officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with military graveside rites. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Tuesday prior to the services.

Contributions may be made to James C. Ratliff family in care of the funeral home.
