Ruby A. Spears

Sept. 3, 1912 – Sept. 3, 2003

Ruby A. Spears, 91, a resident of Maple Valley, died Wednesday, September 3 at Brandywine Manor Convalescent Center in Greenfield. She was born September 3, 1912 in Byrdstown, Tenn., a daughter of the late Samuel and Ada (Sells) Phillips.

Mrs. Spears was a homemaker and a member of the Warrington Nazarene Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean Colip of Wilkinson and Carolyn Pierce of Rogers, Ark.; 1 son, Dale “L.D.” Spears of Wilkinson; 21 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Red” Spears July 8, 1974; two sons, Donald Spears in 1979 and Ronald “Frank” Spears in 2000; one daughter, Jerri Zimmerman in 2002; five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 6 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Brent Hopkins officiating. Burial was in McCray Cemetery.

Visitation was at the funeral home Friday, September 5. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warrington Nazarene Church.
