David R. Owens

April 3,1953 – Sept. 7, 2003

Former Knightstown resident David R. Owens, 50, of Leesburg, died of natural causes on Sunday, September 7 in Kosciusko Community Hospital. He was born April 3, 1953 in New Castle, a son of the late Rex and Thelma (Riley) Owens.

Mr. Owens was the Building Operations Manager for Sprint Telephone in Warsaw. He was a 1971 graduate of Knightstown High School, a member and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Knightstown, member of York Rite in Knightstown and the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Chew Owens whom he married September 4, 1976; one daughter, Tiffany Owens of Leesburg; two sons, Matthew David Owens and Jonathan Owens, both of Leesburg; two sisters, Diedre (husband Gary) Powers of Knightstown, and Denise Kern of Vermont.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Debra Owens.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 11 at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel in Syracuse. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today (Wednesday, September 10) at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
