Guy T. Cottrell

Sept. 29, 1913 – Aug. 29, 2003

Guy T. “Dutch” Cottrell, 89, a resident of the Shirley Community, died Friday, August 29 at the home of his daughter in Greenfield. HE was born September 29, 1913 near Shirley, a son of the late Samuel and Blanch (Judge) Cottrell.

Mr. Cottrell retired in 1978 from the New Castle Chrysler Plant. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was a member of the New Castle Moose Lodge and the Eagles Lodge.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan (husband Kevin) Thornburg of Dayton, Ohio, and Jennifer Walls of Greenfield; four grandchildren; four sisters, Pauline Blowers of Anderson, Mary Crouch of Anderson, Bonnie Trump of Knightstown and Joan Kerr of Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Fisher) Cottrell on July 22, 2000; one brother, John Cottrell; and two sisters, Margaret O’Rear and Wanda Wilkinson. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 2 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial was in McCray Cemetery.

Visitation was at the funeral Monday, September 1.
