Marian White

June 16, 1910 – July 8, 2003

Marian Goldsberry White, 93, of rural Carthage, died Tuesday, July 8 in Brandywine Nursing Home in Greenfield. She was born June 16, 1910 in Hanna, a daughter of the late Walter and Hattie (Osborn) Goldsberry.

Mrs. White lived in the Carthage area most of her life. She was the oldest of eight children. She was a graduate of Greencastle High School and also Depauw University and Indiana University. Marian taught high school at Mays, Carthage, Arlington and Rushville. She was an active member for 60 years of the Knightstown Friends Meeting.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph White whom she married December 24, 1937; two sons, Donald (wife Mary) White of Hanover, Mich. and Louie White of Bloomington; two brothers; one sister; four grandchildren, Dr. Leigh Anne (husband Ed) Busch White, Joseph (wife Ginger) White, Jason White and Brandon White; and three great-grandchildren.

One son preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 11 at the Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. Chris Sitler officiating. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home Thursday, July 10.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Knightstown Friends Church Youth Fund at 214 E. Brown St., Knightstown, IN 46148.
