LaVerne Brown

Apr. 29, 1927 - June 12, 2003

LaVerne Brown, 76, of Carthage died Thursday, June 12 at Regency Place in Greenfield.

Mrs. Brown was born April 29, 1927 in Rush County, a daughter of William and Margaret Mills Jackson. She married Charles Alter in 1945 and he died in 1953. In 1957, she married Alva J. Brown and he died in 1989. She was a homemaker and attended the Carthage Friends Church.

Survivors include two sons, Mike (wife Darlene) Alter of Carthage, and Bob (wife Monika) Alter of Noblesville; two daughters, Anna (husband Tony) Campbell of Rushville, and Kathy (husband Jeff) Rummell of Knightstown; two sisters, Elizabeth (husband Charles) Ray and Marie Jefferies, both of Rushville; and special friend, Kinley McMahan of Carthage; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Besides her husbands, five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Services were held Monday, June 16 at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville. Burial was in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Visitation was held at the funeral home Sunday, June 15.
