Joseph E. Walter

Nov. 11, 1914 - June 6, 2003

Joseph E. Walter, 89, of Dunreith died Friday, June 6 at The Waters of New Castle following an extended illness. He was born November 11, 1914 in Milroy, a son of the late George and Jessie Theodora (Brewer) Walter.

Mr. Walter was a 1933 graduate of Spiceland High School. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1969 and then worked at The Paddock in Knightstown until retiring in 2001. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Rushville, through which he did a lot of volunteer work in the ministry.

Survivors include three nieces, Lois Stanley of Spiceland, Sherry (husband Norman) Nicholas of Rushville, and Jane Hankla of Indianapolis; a nephew, Phil (wife Susan) Walter of Florida; and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marie Walter on March 31, 2003, and a brother, Harold Walter.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, June 15 at Rushville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Don Sparks officiating. Burial will be at Circle Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be given to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses or Watchtower Society. Arrangements were handled by Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service of New Castle.
