Douglas D. Shores

June 29, 1942 - May 29, 2003

Douglas D. Shores, 60, of Lewisville, died Thursday, May 29 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born on June 29, 1942 in New Castle, a son of the late Joseph Edward and Ella Jane (Armstrong) Shores.

Mr. Shores lived in this area all his life and was a 1960 graduate of Knightstown High School. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force and retired in 1997 from Chrysler in New Castle after 32 years of service. He worked as a foreman in quality control. Douglas was a past member of the Lewisville Town Board, a past member of the Lions Club and a member of the American Legion Post 152 of Knightstown.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth "Beth" Parks Shores, whom he married August 6, 1966 in Coal City, Ill.; three daughters, Kim Shores of Indianapolis, Amy (husband Jeremy) Spera of Lewisville, and Carrie (husband Duke) Falck of New Castle; three grandchildren, Destiny Marie Spera, Kirsten Lee Falck and Kyle Douglas Falck; one sister, Jackie Shores of West Palm Beach, Fla.; mother-in-law, Katie Cumming of Venice, Fla.; and two nieces and two nephews.

His parents and a brother, William A. Shore, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 1 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home ~ Lewisville Chapel in Lewisville with Rev. Arthur Whitaker officiating. Burial was in the Lewisville Cemetery. The American Legion and VFW Posts of New Castle conducted military graveside services. Visitation was at the funeral home Saturday, May 31 and prior to the services on Sunday.
