Donna J. Hiner

Donna J. (Brooks) Hiner, 77, of rural Knightstown, died Saturday, May 31 in the Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield. She was born December 28, 1925 in Fairmount, a daughter of the late Clayton and Velma (Bennett) Todd.
Mrs. Hiner moved from Carthage to the Knightstown area in 1996. She was a cook for the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Children's Home. She was a member of East Street Christian Church in Carthage, the Kennard Lions Club and C.W.F. East Street Christian Church. On June 29, 1946, she married Lowell Brooks who preceded her in death in 1983. She was married to Richart T. Hiner on January 20, 1996 and he survives her.
Other survivors besides her husband include six sons, James G. Brooks of New Castle, Perry Franklin Brooks of Carthage, Jack C. Brooks of Spiceland, Kevin D. Brooks of Carthage, Robert Hiner of Indianapolis, and Ray Hiner of Knightstown; three daughters, Sondra (husband James) Gorman of Carthage, Lea Rose Lewis of Hagerstown, and Mary Guinn of Kennard; one brother, Kenneth Todd of Knightstown; four sister, Betty Lou Dean of Knightstown, Shirley Whitfield of Carthage, Patty DeWitt of Rushville, and Sharon Roberts of Carthage; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
A sister, Frances DeWitt of Carthage, died the morning of June 1, shortly after the death of Mrs. Hiner. Two brothers also preceded her in death.
Services were held Tuesday, June 3 at the Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. David Bonne officiating. Burial was in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation was at the funeral home on Monday, June 2.
