Gertie M. Brown

Nov. 8, 1926 - May 22, 2003

Gertie M. Brown, 76, of Greenfield, died Thursday, May 22 in Greenfield. She was born November 8 in Russell Co., Ky., a daughter of the late Claude and Abbey (Johnson) Burchett.

On July 3, 1973, she married Donald R. Brown who died December 29, 1995. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Brown is survived by one son, Frank Phelps of Greenfield; four daughters, Barbara Roberts of Carthage, Marie Mullins of Greenfield, Wanda Lane of Knightstown and Joyce Roy of Knightstown; one brother, Woodrow Anderson of Jamestown, Ky.; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Wendell and Huger Phelps and a sister, Bessie Birdwell.

Services were held Tuesday, May 27 at the Pasco Memorial Mortuary in Greenfield with Nate Brewington officiating. Burial was in Park Cemetery in Greenfield. Visitation was at the mortuary on Monday, May 26.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
