Phillip D. Arnett

June 19, 1936 - May 14, 2003

Phillip D. Arnett, 66, a resident of Kennard, died Wednesday, May 14 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born June 19, 1936 in Globe, Ky., a son of the late Gordon and Gladys (Miller) Arnett.

Mr. Arnett was a 1954 graduate of Kennard High School. He retired after 25 years of service from ABB in Muncie. He served in the 2nd and 3rd divisions where he was a mortar specialist of the U.S. Marine Corp. He attended the Quaker Church in Kennard for 26 years.  He was a member of the Rose City Ringers Horseshoe Club in New Castle and an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Phyllis Arnett of Kennard; a son, Steve (wife Paula) Arnett of New Castle; two grandchildren, Taylor and Kendall Arnett of New Castle; three sisters, Barbra (husband James) Doubman of Kennard, Rosemary (husband Marshall) Dewey of Arizona, and Judith (husband Darrell) Haines of Knightstown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Joann Arnett in 1976, father Gordon Arnett in 1974, and his mother, Gladys Arnett in 1977.

Funeral services were held at the Kennard Friends Church Saturday, May 17 with Rev. Emory Reece and Rev. Gerald Collier officiating. Burial was in McCray Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends was at the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson Friday, May 16.
