Herschel T. Langley

Mar. 15, 1914 - May 13, 2003

Herschel T. Langley, 89, of Knightstown died Tuesday, May 13 at his residence. He was born March 15, 1914 in Indianapolis, a son of the late Henry Esaw and Mary Elizabeth (Lambert) Langley.

Mr. Langley had been employed as a deliveryman for Brosius Coal Co. in Knightstown and had been employed at the Spiceland Elevator. He attended the Knightstown Wesleyan Church.

Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Alice Wagner Langley whom he married Sept. 19, 1949 in Jeffersonville. Also surviving are four sons, Jackie Langley of Terre Haute, Monte (wife Kelly) Langley of Spiceland, Tony Langley of Knightstown, and Larry (wife Debbie) Langley of Greenfield; three daughters, Karen (husband Ronald) Ostermyer of Dunreith, Linda Langley of Rushville, and Mary Washburn of Brazil; eight grandchildren, Anthony, Jeanie and Michelle Ostermyer, Shaylynne Langley, Kory Washburn, Destynee Rucker, Chelsea Langley and Ceirra Langley; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, a brother, John Langley, four sisters, Cora Scheaffer, Ethel Short, Clara Van and Gladys Scheaffer, and an infant brother, Georgie, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 16 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home ~ Lewisville Chapel in Lewisville with Rev. George "Junior" Maloyed officiating. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.

Visitation was held at the funeral home on Friday, May 16.
